The New Jersey Cynder are one of the premier AA teams in minor-league professional football. Organized in 2001, the Cynder have enjoyed subpar success by recently going 5-5 in 2008. "We have come along quite steadily", exclaimed Team Owner and now Head Coach of the NJ Cynder, Jermaine Sanders. "Each year, the team brings a fresh perspective on things, which is a testament to the growing process, in which this team has faced a lot of adversity."

The TEAM, is owned and operated by a board of family members and friends and operates under the umbrella of the Cynder Youth Foundations, Inc., which is a non-profit entity. The team players are selected via several yearly workout/evaluation sessions - and are primarily composed of former High School, Division 2 and D3 college football players.

The League -The Cynder play in the young and prolific BNEFF (Big North East Football Federation) - a AA premier fall league that is considered by most one of the top minor-league's in the Northeast and soon to be in the country. The BNEFF comprises teams from New York, New Jersey, Connettiuct and Pennsylvania. The league is in its third-season and begins play in late August and runs until November. All BNEFF games are generally scheduled on Sunday night.

The Cynder are a team that is dedicated to promote minor-professional athletics with a strong commitment to excellence in sportsmanship, entertainment, and community service.

CYNDER BORN: IN THE BEGINNING
On May 2nd, 2001, the New Jersey Cynder or back then, was known as the Jersey City Cynder Football Club, Inc., was born into existence with the signing of a contract in Jersey City, NJ. Team Cynder, was the genesis and brainchild of former high school football player, Jermaine Sanders, who was looking to design and create a an elite minor-pro football resource platform for players and eligible collegiate to: train, compete, and acquire additional football experience with the opportunity of playing professional football (NFL, CFL, NFL-Europe, Arena) - returning to school for college eligibility - or just playing high-level football for the love of the game.

Jermaine D. Sanders (also known as the Cynder King), had a vision. A vision to bring affordable entertainment to the urban area. Along with this vision, be a scaled model of a NFL professional football team franchise complete with front office administration, coaches, players, staff and a yearly operating budget and create a minor-pro level of football at a fraction of the cost of professional leagues and minor-sports franchises. "I envisioned being in the professional ranks, whether a player or in the front-office, but noone was looking at me like that", chuckled Sanders. "Since I couldn't get a job doing what I love, the next best thing would be to take my education and my passion for football and bring to my home town and surrounding areas, a football franchise they can love."

On naming the team, Jersey City (NJ) Cynder: The name Cynder, is actually spelled Cinder, having to do with fire."To me it means, A small flame that never dies. I think WE ALL have that in each and every one of us. We all have that burning desire or passion to do something in life and for me, this is one of them."

MEET THE CYNDER PLAYERS
Players: The Cynder have been very fortunate to have some of their top former players in collegiate, Hudson/Essex/Middlesex High school history play for them in the last 8 years. Players like former Hudson County standouts, Alfredo Carrillo and German Decena, who are both attending (William Paterson University) and Morey Keita (Essex County) and former Saint Peter's College standout, Aadam Glenn, who both played in the inaugural season, a few years ago with an Indoor Professional team, here in New Jersey.
